Dr Yamamoto felt becoming an obstetrician was her calling when she attended a lecture given by a certified midwife at University of California, Berkeley where she was studying as an international exchange student. After graduating from International Christian University, Tokyo as a biology major in 2004, she went on to pursue her studies at Okayama University School of Medicine.

She began her career as a junior resident physician at Urasoe General Hospital, Okinawa in 2008. Since 2010, she received training as Obgyn at various hospitals in Yokohama City. She specializes in Maternal Fetal Medicine but remained fascinated by general gynecology, where she could engage in improving the everyday lives of women. 

​

In 2019, after completing her fourth maternity leave, she decided to approach women's health care from different fields, and joined Yokohama City, Health and Welfare Bureau, Health and Welfare Division. She engaged in cancer screening programs and medical database analysis. From 2020, she worked for Yokohama City Nanbu Child Guidance Center and provided professional advice to staff as an Obstetrics and Gynecology specialist.

After returning to her clinical practice in 2021 at Yokohama City University Hospital, Yokohama Municipal Citizens's Hospital, and Yokohama Rosai Hospital, she is in her current position from November 2023.

She currently lives in Yokohama with her husband and children. She is an avid fountain pen and ink user.
